Patience...

“Patience is a virtue” is the old saying. I’m learning in my ripe old age of 37 that it REALLY IS! I was emailing recently with a new friend who has Psoriasis about patience because he’s having a hard time. He’s taking really good care of himself and has been for months and has absolutely seen progress, but it’s slow coming and while one area is clearing another is popping up. It frustrates me to hear that for two reasons. One – because he’s truly doing everything he can to not put acidic foods in his body and doing a load of healthy things on a daily basis like yoga, baths, etc.

The second reason is because this alkaline lifestyle is working so well for me, so why not him? I know we all are different with different bodies and thought processes, so I try to keep that in mind, but it’s hard hearing news like this and makes me want to come to the rescue and figure it out. I feel stress has a bigger part to play than even food and I firmly believe the more you worry about something the more you will see it in your life. So, I’m hoping he finds a way to not focus and stress over it as much as he is. It’s hard, trust me, I KNOW!

This is where patience comes in . It’s such an essential thing isn’t it? In Dr. Pagano’s book it’s amazing to read about the dozens of cases he had where some people cleared in 5 months and some over a year! I’m even still struggling with a small patch on my leg after 8 months and even though it has cleared a little each day it’s still there! Small and looking damn good compared to 8 months ago, but you get my point – it’s STILL THERE!

I’ve made a conscious choice to focus on the positive – most of my Psoriasis is gone and this patch is fading. It’s taking time, but it is fading, not reappearing! I’m well aware by focusing on the positive results I’m not a prisoner to my ego which likes to focus on the negative. I’m patient because although its taken time it IS leaving. I’m patient because I’ve had Psoriasis for almost 20 years and I know it’s not going to exit overnight. I’m patient because I know I’m doing right by my body now through eating and exercise and good feeling thoughts. I’m patient because I know there’s no other choice but to be patient or be miserable.

What do you choose? Sit down and ask yourself where your focus is? It’s not easy to focus on the positive aspects of your Psoriasis when you are looking right at it. I know that and in no way do I want you to think its easy. I just know nothing felt better than taking my life back by choosing to not let my Psoriasis control me:)

I’m patient because I love myself and have to be in order to be happy! This month’s blog is short, but patiently sweet:) Hang in there…
